Emergency numbers

  • Fire department 110
  • Police department 112
  • Medical emergency 113

General practitioner vs the emergency room

If possible, use your general practitioner for medical help, even in emergency situations.

The emergency room for Trondheim, Gjøvik (in Norwegian) and Ålesund (in Norwegian) is open 24-7 and can be reached at phone number 116 117. Only contact the emergency room outside of regular office hours or when it's impossible to contact your general practitioner.

Foreign employees and students without Norwegian ID numbers should contact Gløshaugen medical center (73 59 32 80, Richard Birkelands vei 5 next to NTNU Gløshaugen). When the foreign employee or student has receive a Norwegian ID number, they too should contact their general practitioner.

Training and first aid equipment

Employees should receive basic training in first aid.

Each unit should decide what first aid equipment they need based on a risk assessment. NTNU has a purchase agreement on first aid and fire protection courses with Minso AS (in Norwegian).

Knowledge and skills that are used in emergency situations must be thoroughly aquired and regularly repeated - learn how to give life-saving first aid.
