Agreements for Publishing Open Access

NTNU has made agreements with publishers for publishing Open Access. On this page you will find information about each agreement.

If you are unsure which publisher or agreement your journal belongs to, you can also search for the journal in the Norwegian register for Scientific Journals, Series and Publishers and check whether NTNU is listed as a participating institution under “Publiseringsavtale”. If NTNU is mentioned there, you can publish openly in the journal at no additional cost.

This apply to all agreements:

Only the corresponding author may request funding. This author is responsible for submitting the manuscript and following up the publication process.
The corresponding author must be affiliated with NTNU as an employee, student, externally funded PhD candidate or visiting researcher, and this affiliation must be stated in the article. The work must be carried out through the NTNU position.
Corresponding authors affiliated with St. Olav’s Hospital or the Central Norway Regional Health Authority may also have publication fees covered in some agreements.
List NTNU as your institution when signing any publishing agreement, and use your NTNU email address to avoid doubt about affiliation. Choose open access publishing if asked.
NTNU recommends the Creative Commons CC BY license, which provides the best visibility, dissemination and reuse, while allowing you to retain the rights to your article.

AIP Publishing

How does it work?	Your affiliation with NTNU or St. Olav hospital will be checked based on your email. Use your ntnu.no or stolav.no email when sending your manuscript.

Cambridge University Press (CUP)

Agreement includes	Read and Publish. This covers both APCs and read access for NTNU or St. Olavs hospital.
Qualified authors	Corresponding authors affiliated with NTNU or St. Olavs hospital.
Qualified articles	Peer reviewed articles where the manuscript is accepted for publication during the agreement period (Research articles, Review articles or Rapid Communications).
Licences available	Creative Commons CC BY is recommended. The publisher may offer other licences. However, these are not accepted by Plan S and/or the new contract from the Research Council of Norway.
How does it work?	State your affiliation with NTNU or St. Olavs hospital throughout CUP's publication process. Use your ntnu.no or stolav.no email address. When signing the OA publishing agreement, choose Open Access.

How does it work?	Please select 'NORWEGIAN UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY’ as the payer in the invoice section when submitting your article. Frontiers will then verify your eligibility with NTNU University Library, and if confirmed, the APC will be paid by NTNU upon acceptance. Use your ntnu.no, helse-midt.no, stolav.no, helse-mr.no, hnt.no, sykeshusapoteket.no, or hemit.no email address.
