How to Apply for Internal Assignments

All available internal assignments are announced in a dedicated channel on Innsida. Here you’ll find information about the tasks, requirements, duration, and how to apply. Remember to discuss your interest with your immediate manager before applying.

Temporary Assignment in a Vacant Position

When someone goes on leave or is absent due to long-term illness, the vacancy will be announced in the Innsida channel so that everyone has the opportunity to apply. This includes leadership roles. If you apply, you may be selected to temporarily take on the responsibilities of the vacant position.

Internal Projects and Development Work

Internal project and development opportunities are regularly announced in the Innsida channel.

If you’re interested in working on such tasks for a period, you and your manager can agree that you may apply. You will retain your original position, but an additional assignment will be created describing the duration, percentage of your time allocated, and who your new manager will be during the period.

When Temporary Tasks Become Permanent

If the temporary tasks you’ve been working on become permanent, it must be considered whether a new position should be created. In such cases, the position will normally be advertised, and you may apply for it.

Salary and Organizational Affiliation

When temporarily reassigned to new tasks, you will normally retain your current salary. However, your organizational affiliation in NTNU’s systems will be updated to ensure you have the necessary access and permissions.
