Software information

GLview Inova is a software application for three-dimensional visualization of scientific computational data, particularly within the fields of structural mechanics and fluid dynamics. The software utilizes the OpenGL graphics standard to generate three-dimensional graphics and is capable of handling large datasets. Furthermore, it supports direct file interfaces with a range of finite element systems, including ABAQUS, ANSYS, I-deas, Fluent, and Femap.

GLview is widely used at NTNU and is offered through the software distribution channels, including Software Farm and software.ntnu.no. A dedicated wiki page is also available, providing installation guides and user documentation.

GLview is developed by the Norwegian company Ceetron AS, which specializes in software for the visualization of engineering data. In recent years, Ceetron has become part of Tech Soft 3D, which continues the development and distribution of GLview.

License management for GLview is handled through FlexNet, and NTNU uses a license server (glview.lisens.ntnu.no) to distribute access to the software internally.

File formats

GLview may read files from the following programs: ABAQUS, ANSYS, FEMAP, I-DEAS, LS-DYNA, MSC.Marc, MSC.Nastran, and RADIOSS. GLview's file format is VTF, which is an open file format.
