More sensitive spam filter
Email in O365 has a more sensitive spam filter than today's email solution. We therefore recommend that you regularly check "Junk Email" for emails that have been incorrectly sorted.
You can customize filtering in the spam setting. Read more about how to do this on Microsoft's pages.
O365 requires two-factor authentication
When email and calendar are moved to O365, there will be a requirement for two-factor authentication to log in.
Webmail gets new URL
After moving you will reach webmail at https://outlook.office.com
The Deleted Items folder is now cleared automatically
Content in this folder will be automatically removed after 30 days.
How do I check if I have been moved?
If you are unsure and want to check if your email has been moved, try logging in to the new webmail. If you get an error message, you have NOT been moved yet.
Which email readers can I use?
We recommend Outlook where possible.
Thunderbird: Use outlook.office365.com, username@ntnu.no and authmetode oath2
(See Setup email account in Thunderbird)
Evolution: Setup of email account in Evolution
I want to set up my own client
For other clients to work, they need to support authentication via the Oauth2 protocol and support MFA.
Incoming mail server: outlook.office365.com, port 993, TLS encryption
Outgoing mail server: smtp.office365.com, port 587, STARTTLS encryption
How to make Outlook contacts visible in the Contacts app on mobile/tablet?
If you want your Outlook contacts to be displayed in the built-in Contacts app on your mobile/tablet, this must be activated manually. Go to Settings in the Outlook app (tap the photo icon or the top left icon, and tap the gear icon). Select the email account Office 365. Tap Save Contacts (iPhone) or Sync Contacts (Android) and follow the instructions.
