Elan is a professional tool for the creation of complex annotations on video and audio resources. The textual content of annotations is always in Unicode and the transcription is stored in an XML format.

Free: Available for Windows, MacOS and Linux.

Used by Faculty of Humanities (The Department of Language and Literature)

Note that the program can only be used for academic work and not for commercial work.
