Competence development and courses
For employees
All employees must have the opportunity to develop themselves and their competence - skills, abilities and attitudes. Many different learning and competence development initiatives are offered.
Talk to your manager about your expectations and needs for training and competence development, so that you can plan your competence development in the right direction for both you and your unit.
Competence development varies based on role and work tasks. Competence development takes place in everyday life, for example when you learn new tasks or discuss issues with colleagues.
Measures of competence development:
- Individual studies
- Training in systems
- Shorter courses and learning events, delivered by NTNU or others
- Participation in development projects, competence development programs or networks
- Gatherings, seminars, conferences
- Continuing education and training
- Hospitation at another, internal unit
- Exchange opportunities
Talk to your manager about individual competence development measures that will be useful and appropriate for you and your unit.
Several units have joint internal training and skills development measures. Talk to your manager to get an overview of current measures.
Career and competence development should be a central part of the annual appraisal interview. You can request that you and your managersets up a written career plan in a separate meeting. Follow-up of the career plan should be in the employee interview.
