Expectations from the employer

As a PhD candidate or postdoctoral fellow, your doctoral and research project is the primary focus of your career and competence development. However, as an employee at NTNU, we also expect you to:

  • reflect on your own competence needs
  • familiarize yourself with the competence needs of the organization and your unit
  • be willing to share your expertise with other employees

Appraisal interview

As an employee at NTNU, you are entitled to an annual appraisal interview. This is an important opportunity to discuss your goals and needs with your manager, so that together you can establish a solid career plan.

It is important that you prepare thoroughly for this conversation. Information about what is expected of you and how to prepare can be found on the page Appraisal interview.

Although the appraisal interview is a formal and important arena for discussing career and competence development with your manager, you are of course welcome to request such a conversation at any time.
