Writable Screens in Classrooms
Did you know that many of NTNU's classrooms have writable screens? This is a tool that can help improve the quality of your teaching.
Norsk versjon: Skrivbare skjermer i undervisingsrom
Advantages of using writable screens:
- Visibility (universal design): What you write appears on the screen/projector image and can be more visible to students compared to using a regular blackboard/whiteboard. Especially if you have students attending digitally or you are recording the lecture, using a writable screen will be advantageous.
- You can save what you write/draw and share it with students afterward.
- Watch video showing the benefits
Some examples of uses for writable screens
- Annotating/drawing in PowerPoint
- Writing surface if you use OneNote/Word/Whiteboard, etc., in teaching
- Annotating/highlighting in PDF or Word documents
How to use the writable screens
The screens are used by logging into the desktop PC in the classroom. Log in to the PC as usual and use the screen with the accompanying pen in the relevant software. The screens are adjustable.
For Gjøvik: The screen can also be used with your own laptop. You need to connect to HDMI (projector/screen) and USB-A (marked with "touch"). The writable screen will work best if you have previously downloaded and installed a driver (download from Wacom's website).
