Procedure for gaining access to the laboratories at the Department of Energy and Process Engineering (EPT) as an employee or student, and approval of access for the supervisor / Head of lab.

Lab access for employees and students

Here is what you need to do as employee or student at EPT to get access to laboratories at the Department of Energy and Process Engineering:

1. Finish the web-based HSE course for the IV Faculty (Læringsportalen) (approx. 30 minutes)
2. Participate in the mandatory HES tour in the lab. When Læringsportalen registers that you have finished the couse in step number 1, you will get the possibility to sign up for a HES tour in the lab.
3. When you have completed the HES tour, enter Læringsportalen and click "finish KOMPETANSELØP" + "SIGN", and wait for the approval from the Head of lab / your supervisor.

For supervisor/Head of lab: how to give lab access

Here is what you need to do as supervisor or Head of lab to give lab access to a particular student or employee:

1. Open the e-mail alert from Læringsportalen, which contains the name of the particular student or employee who have asked for access to a lab (ref step 1-3 above). The e-mail looks like this:
   
2. Click "open page to sign" under "Resources" you MUST choose which lab the employee/student will be allowed access to. Click on the empty field, this will open up a menu on the left with alternatives:
3. Remember the expiration date. Students will typically stay at EPT in 12 months, while PhD and Postdoctoral candidates typically stay from 2 to 3 years.
4. Click "SIGN".
