Choosing the main profile - IES

Norsk versjon

5-year master/civil engineer

The first three years of study at Electronic system design and innovation are common to all students. From the 4th year, the specialization starts and you must choose a main profile. See the study plan for an overview of the main profiles. Remember to choose the right class (start year). Information about individual courses can be found in the Course descriptions

NB: Students who are to choose the main profile Embedded systems must choose TTK4145 Real-time programming in the 7th semester (3rd year spring).

Each specialization is associated with a number of compulsory (o) and elective (v) courses. A complete overview can be found in the study plan. A number of recommended courses are planned without collision on the lesson and exam schedule. If you choose outside of these topics, you are responsible for checking for any collisions. It is not possible to choose subjects that collide with the exam schedule. Examination plan for subsequent academic years.

Where can I get help?

To help you with your choice, the department arranges information meetings in the spring semester. These are announced on Innsida, under the study program’s message channel.

The student advisor can also help you in your choice of subjects. Please use e-mail to book an appointment.

What should I choose?

The choice of field of study is not of decisive importance for which industry and type of job you will end up in after completing your studies. However, most people apply for work assignments that largely correspond to the academic content of the study they have completed. If you are unsure of the choice, you can choose key courses within two related fields of study and thus keep several options open. The most important thing for you now is that the study is perceived as interesting and meaningful. Then you learn the most. So therefore you should choose according to your desires and professional interests.
