The benefits of using video

The benefits of using video

Video is a powerful tool that expands learning opportunities by providing visual demonstrations, real-world application of knowledge, unlimited repetition and creative approaches to the subject matter.

Personification

Create a greater connection between students and subject matter with video. If you have a difficult theory to present, why not let the students hear it from the theorist themselves. Or if you yourself have theories or subject matter that you know are difficult for the students, let them hear and watch you formulate the material on video.

Motivation

With video, it is possible to link theorical knowledge to relevant working life examples through, for example, reports from different workplaces. Video can show practical application of knowledge taught in the subject.

Variation

We all learn in different ways and have different preferences for pedagogical methodology. Showing one or more videos in between other lessons is a great way to vary your teaching and give students multiple ways to learn.

Interaction possibilities

You can easily integrate quizzes, surveys, exercises and assignments into a video.

Flexible

Watch videos at your own pace — rewind, stop, binge — and look again for repetition. The ability to watch videos whenever and wherever you want on any device makes video a flexible learning resource.

Self-reflection

Video can be useful in teacher training or other subjects that are of a vocational nature. Students can produce their own videos about their experiences in their work-place training, and become familiar with different ways of communicating the subject matter.

Digital skills

Producing video can increase digital skills and contribute to mastering various media for communication and professional dissemination.
