Who can read the messages?

It varies, but the settings for unit channels are basically set so that only the channel's members (employees and affiliates) can read messages. Membership is continuously updated based on working conditions and affiliations in HR- and user databases (SAP and BAS). The channel's administrators can approve access for other stakeholders who request membership.

Who can write messages?

It varies, but the settings for department channels are basically set so that both employees and the channel's administrators can write messages.

The channel's info page lists the channel's existing administrators. You can find the info page for the message channel via the inside search.

  1. Enter the first words of the device's name in Innsida's search field and press [ENTER]
  2. Filter the result so that you see only "message channels".

Members of department or unit channels

All employees and associated persons automatically become members of the unit channel for their department or unit, as well as the channel of the faculty or division above. The channel's administrators can see an overview of all subscribers under settings.

Employees and associated persons include

  • Employees at the unit
  • Persons with a guest connection to a subject in BAS

Questions and answers

Who are set as administrators for the device channels?

  • Each unit has appointed certain people, with an emphasis on web editors and communication officers or Head of administration. The channel's info page lists the channel's existing administrators. You can find the info page for the message channel via the internal search, see chapter Who can write messages above.

What does "Obligatory" mean?

When it says that the membership is "Obligatory", the user is automatically associated with a message channel and cannot be removed. Membership will be obligatory if the person is

  • employed or associated with the current entity, according to SAP
  • associated with a unit according to BAS

There are many people with "Obligatory" membership that we do not recognize. What are we doing?

  • Extra persons are usually due to incorrect registrations in SAP and BAS, especially missing "from" and "to" dates for the various working conditions.

What does it mean when it says that the person is "Registered" to the channel?

  • Some channels are open for people outside the device to subscribe. These will be listed as "Registered" and can be deleted from the channel (in contrast to those listed as "Obligatory".

We will not use one of our level 4 unit channels (section / group). Can we delete it?

  • No. It will be restored the next day. If a section channel is redundant, you can choose to ignore it. Inform the channel's members via a single message in the channel.

What happens if we change the name of the device channel?

  • It's going well, but the change will be short-lived. Names of unit channels are overwritten every night, and reflect the unit's official name, according to Organization Register.
