Archiving of content from Blackboard - Kunnskapsbasen
Archiving of content from Blackboard
Norsk versjon: Arkivering av innhold fra Blackboard
As part of the transition to Canvas, NTNU's agreement with Blackboard will end in October 2026. After this date, staff and students will no longer have access to Blackboard.
What happens to teaching materials?
- NTNU transfers teaching material from Blackboard to Canvas for the last completion of courses from 2024 or later.
- You can access the copied material in separate rooms in Canvas.
- Older teaching material (before 2024) must be transferred to Canvas yourself if you want to use it further.
- See the wiki page Migrating content from Blackboard to Canvas for guidance.
We recommend that you only transfer material that you will actually use in teaching. This ensures the quality of Canvas and avoids Canvas being used as an archive. For privacy reasons, old topic rooms will be deleted.
Keeping Materials That Are Not Automatically Transferred
Do you have older files or documents in Blackboard that you want to keep?
- Download and save them in a suitable location by spring and summer 2026.
- Remember: Do not store personal information about students or colleagues.
- For more information on how to migrate, see the Migrating Content from Blackboard to Canvas wiki page.
NOTE! All storage must take place before October 2026. After that, you lose access to Blackboard.
Inform students
Students can also save their own content from Blackboard. Feel free to help us inform them! Information will be published directly aimed at students at the beginning of 2026.
